The Toronto Star's Halloween costume
Posted on 28. Oct, 2009 by jessekg in Toronto

Everybody is trying to get in on the halloween fun this year. Even the Toronto Star dressed its website up briefly as a cheesy tabloid. This was the home page around 5:00pm today, clearly geared at scaring every single Torontonian to read the story that was nothing but a standard health piece from healthzone.ca.
Other than the lead: ”Dr. Barbara Yaffe, Toronto’s associate medical officer of health, has confirmed an outbreak of H1N1 at Mount Sinai Hospital,” the rest of the story was some basic stats about flu clinics in Toronto and absenteeism in school.
Don’t worry Star readers, you didn’t die from the multitude of front page stories about mismanaged green bin waste this summer (unless being bored to death counts), and you’re not going to die from this. Yet.

Toss it on my “things that aggravate me about the Star” pile.

That’s a new low.

I would forgive the Star if more of their stories ended like this post did. “Yet.”
