Your prom sucked compared to this kid’s. I promise.

Two minutes in heaven are better than one minute in heaven

Everyone remembers High School prom.

Even if you didn’t go to one, you probably have enough pop-culture imagery of North America’s seminal coming of age event to create a pastiche real enough to confuse as your own memories. Like that time you broke up with Kelly Kapowski — that was bittersweet. Or that other prom, where you travelled back in time in Doc Brown’s time machine and planted the seed of your own parents’ romance (unwittingly, almost literally). Ah yes, senior prom. Well, up here in Canada it’s called formal eh? But enough aboot the Canada jokes for now.

More pertinent is the most inspirational story I have ever heard in my entire life today: Conner Cordova, a small town Colorado teenager, somehow got UFC Ringirl/Maxim/Playboy Model/Smokin’ Hottie Arianny Celeste to be his prom date. And she brought a friend.

Without a doubt, amongst pimpled 18 year old, Cordova is officially a God. This is his story.

You gotta give the kid credit — I’ve had a bit of a thing for Natalie Portman, but I always just compartmentalized it into the fantasy realm of my existence. Not Cordova though; no this kid has moxie. Well, moxie and a video camera.

Cordova filmed three hilarious YouTube videos begging his dream girl to go to prom with him, and in a twist of fate on-par with the plot to Weird Science, Celeste actually 1) replied, and 2) said “yes,” but only on the condition that she was allowed to bring a friend and Cordova would find a date for said female companion.

I’ve never been to Dakota Ridge High School, but I’m willing to bet for a few days, Cordova was easily the most popular kid in the building.

Enjoy the videos that give (hilarious) hope to every red-blooded male on the planet who’s ever crushed on a celebrity dream. Excuse me, but I have to go make some YouTube videos now about how much I loved the new Star Wars movies in an attempt to get Natalie Portman to be in my Facebook profile picture.

Can Arianny file this under charity work?

On another note, I didn’t think I could actually miss a ring girl, but I do kind of really miss the loverly Logan Stanton. Celeste is cool and all but things ain’t the same ringside without Stanton’s gnarled pinkie finger and stoner laugh.
