Next up: A Celebrities Who Have Been In Re-Hab Party
Posted on 24. Feb, 2010 by Simon in Curiosities, Pop Culture
You know what people love? Themed parties. Halloween doesn’t count, so really the only themed party I’ve ever been to is the now-ubiquitous annual ugly Christmas sweater brouhaha.
Of course, I have heard of other types of parties.
80′s parties. 70′s parties. Prom parties. Asshole parties (you have to wear American Apparel, and the party takes place on a yacht).
Rarely however have I ever witnessed first or second hand the space-time bending awesomeness that is a New York hipster attending a “Jersey Shore” costume party, which the Village Voice happens to have an entire photo album of.
I like to think this could be titled: “the situation,” lower case s.
Anyways, I have been trying to to think of interesting party ideas recently, and I have nothing else to post about today, so there you have it. I apologize. Now brainstorm for me: what’s the best themed party you’ve ever been to?
My current theme ideas after the jump:
- Cartoons
- Global dictators
- Other people who will be attending the party in a hat and everybody gets somebody else
- The person you hate most in the world (could overlap with the above theme)
- Dead authors
- Characters from the movie “Starship Troopers”
- Colours that rhyme with “urple”
- Anyone who appears regularly on a TLC show

Authors? … nobody even knows (or cares about) what authors look like.
Just pick a movie that everyone knows with outlandish costumes… maybe one of the James Cameron pictures with some aliens…
There you go – ‘James Cameron directed movies featuring aliens and a six letter title that starts with the letter A themed party.’

Olympics party?
Washed-up celebrities party?
A not-really-Halloween Halloween party?
A mustache party? (this one sounds fun)

Mustache party? That does sound fun.

@Dust: I was going to suggest an around-the-world party, but figured everyone would show up in blackface. Buuttt you might as well make everyone feel comfortable about it upfront by making the theme blackface. I, of course, would have to go in whiteface just to be different.
