Because you will likely recieve an e-mail like this 24 hours before the show. Although, in all honesty, I don’t think anyone was surprised….

REMG UPCOMING EVENTS
|

| Dear Patrons,
Due to circumstances beyond our control the Doom featuring Mos Def concert scheduled for Thursday February 25, 2010 at the Kool Haus will no longer include Mos Def. All other details regarding this show are unchanged. REMG Entertainment takes the integrity of our concerts and the trust placed in our company by our loyal patron base very seriously. As such we feel it necessary to address the ongoing rumours and concerns about the true identity of the performer on stage during recent Doom performances. We are taking every precaution necessary to ensure that the performer on stage is in fact DOOM (Daniel Dumile). The artist has agreed to produce proper identification to us prior to performing to confirm his identity. We will not allow a substitute to perform in his place. We encourage fans to follow us on twitter.com/remg for regular updates on the show. Doom says “The Supervillain is still coming to Toronto and he is going to tear the place down.” Previously purchased tickets for the original January 27 date WILL BE HONOURED at the door. Ticket holders seeking refunds due to Mos Def’s cancellation can obtain them at point of purchase starting Friday February 26 through Friday March 5, 2010. The Kool Haus (132 Queens Quay E.) |

This deserves an epic WOMP WOMP.
The only people who are showing up to this show are hipsters who haven’t a clue and berserk fanboys.

Honestly… when I saw the poster for this concert months ago, I was intrigued… Then I stopped and thought about it, and remember all the terrible things I had ever heard about DOOM. I love me some MOS but not enough to pay $45 plus service charges to see him…
When the show was reschedule I wasn’t surprised. When I received the email saying no Mos, I wasn’t surprised… the only thing I AM surprised about is that REMG is continuing to carry on the farce that this is actually a concert worth $45 plus service fees…
Oh and since when do you NEED to ID a performer before he takes the stage??? This is basically a sign of what DOOM thinks of his fans… Nothing at all… You want to listen to him and know for sure it is him… download his album, for free…!

I was pretty much going on Mos alone, so that cancellation sealed the deal. I heard Mos is actually pretty unreliable anyways, and he once made Sol Guy wait for a full day at the airport as part of that documentary series he was doing http://www.4real.com/tv/details.asp?pageid=10

What are the chances that Dumille is wearing the mask on his driver’s license though? Then what? I mean, Meatloaf legally changed his name to Meatloaf. Maybe Dumille legally changed his face to a mask. You can’t put anything past a super-villain.

@Mr. Banner: Agreed. Mos is not worth $45, especially since he stopped rapping and started singing and acting. Madvillainy was the last Doom album I purchased and plan on purchasing. At this point, I just see Doom as some fat, alco-high, tiny shirt wearing, gut hanging boor. With a mask. Shudder.
@Jesse: Mos long ago ventured into douchebag territory. Fuck his couch.
@Jef: I love you (No Christianne-O).

I think as a rule, you should never have to pay more than $40 to go to a place called “Kool Haus,” anyways.
I hate that joint almost as much as I hate the-venue-formerly-known-as-the-docks.

Guys, maybe I read too many comic books, but I think the answer is staring us in the face: MOS DEF IS MF DOOM.

I got an email last night at 10:30 that said DOOM was held up at the border, but don’t worry, he should on in about an hour! As in, if you’re lucky he will be on before midnight.
Good thing I opted for the refund on that one.
