Steph: If nothing else, Richard gives a nice gravity to the coming Jacob/Smokey war because holy shit they’ve been fucking with people since the old-school pirate days, you know? And I have a feeling we’re going to be slowly re-visiting all our old set pieces with a “Look how far we’ve come!” moment, like when Jack went back to the Adam and Eve camp and Sawyer went back to the Others’ neighbourhood. Richard made the re-visit to the Blackrock that much more meaningful. As far as us talking about how everyone keeps switching roles, Richard is the new Juliet who was the new Ana Lucia. (i.e. New Sexy Girl joins from the Other Side of the Island who somehow dies before she can provide any new information. I’m calling it: Richard is sexy and dies before talking!) Yea i almost laughed out loud at work when i saw richard’s interrobang earrings. I totally thought Ben was going to shoot Ilana and go back to his creepy glazy fish-eyed ways. I’m also glad that they revealed why richard never grows old although i’m still not sure what his ultimate purpose is besides to explain stuff. I think i read somewhere that people were thinking he was smokey’s son, but i dont think so. Anyhow I just wanted to say that i look forward to reading the interrobang every week, it always makes me laugh so hard. Thanks guys!

Oh word I LOVE the point about Ben always losing faith and becoming realistic. Interesting wording too — I’m guessing if you crashed on an island you wouldn’t be the one to push buttons every 108 minutes off blind faith, huh?

In the recap I was saying Jack was becoming Locke, but yeah your Ben point works too since Locke was being groomed as Ben’s replacement. I like that everyone on the show keeps shuffling roles but the roles are always there, always the same. (And then other characters are on this loop they can’t escape, like Sayid and Kate).

Also, I’m glad to have made someone LOL IRL in a library. Brings me back to them good ol’ school days. (/nostalgia)

Ok so besides me laughing out loud in the library at the “That’s why the game is fun!” line, there was some pretty interesting stuff happening in this interrobang episode thing.

First of all – I really like what they’re doing with Ben and Jack. I feel like they’re equal but opposite characters in some way….and they’ve always been set up that way. Do we have some white stone / black stone thing going on here?

Both of their stories revolve around faith – but Ben continuously looses faith and becomes more realisitc, while Jack is being emotionally tossed around to the point where he goes insane and starts having a little faith. It’s like they’re turning into each other or something. I dunno.
