The Morning Dump: Rick Rubin’s natural high, feeling old through pop culture, out-geeking the geeks, who cut the cheese and how and why

- Do you believe Rick Rubin when he says he doesn’t drink or get high? Like, ever? Really. Rick Rubin?? I guess being some sort of genius is its own kind of high. I wouldn’t know. I’m barely even functional sos I get my kicks from sniffing these Mr. Smelly markers. Oh yeah, Unkut, something something piece about Rick Rubin something. Mmmmm, strawberry!
- The A.V. Club shares some of current day culture that makes them feel old. Noel Murray makes a very good point about Harry Potter and how the wizard’s fans were kids when the books came out and like 10 or 11 when the first movie dropped and THAT’s why you see all these college age Potter-heads going nuts whenever a new flick opens; it all just makes mathematical sense you see and none of them are that weird at all. I’m just old. I kind of wasn’t prepared for that realization.
- Speaking of fandom, the Are You A Serious Comic Book Reader blog features a guest post from “Good friend of the blog and semi-committal comics reader Camden”, who writes about seeing awesome comics artist Paul Pope speak at an event and realizing she knew more about Pope and his work than the so-called comics geeks around her. Step up your game, geeks. I’m saying though, we might have been preoccupied because hello, Norman Osborne invaded Asgard and is trying to murk Thor and the Sentry ripped Ares apart like a fucking coupon and here comes Iron Man, he’s back!, and we’ve been busy lately, GOD.
- Fart jokes are awesome when properly crafted, but Vice goes +1 by doing a serious article about farts. i.e. The Ultimate Fart Joke. Use this newfound knowledge to regale your family over Easter meals or just satisfy your own curiousity about your second most musical orifice. However, they fail to clear up once and for all if the one who smelt it is indeed the one who dealt it.
