Show & Tell: The XX – Islands

Definition of a staaaacked bill? The XX and Hot Chip. That’s where Simon and I were last night; part of an excited ultra-hipster-y crowd listening to two of the most interesting bands to come out of England in the past decade. An interesting juxtaposition too considering The XX are mostly mellow—except for when they remix themselves on stage by sampling ATB—and Hot Chip are crazy lively. It’s like sitting in the hot tub, chillaxing, then jumping into a pool and feeling completely on the fritz. But like, the opposite in terms of temperature. Or something.
Anyway, enjoy the video for “Islands” by The XX, which is just as confusing and stoic as the band is live—but an awesome song nonetheless!
