Mortal Kombat Rebirth

I’ve watched this video four times already and I’m still not quite sure what to make of it. The seven minute live-action short materialized on YouTube today, posted by the account MortalKombatRebirth. Kotaku picked up on it and nobody is sure if it’s a game or a movie or what is going on.
For starters, there are some actual names in this short, including Jeri Ryan as Sonya Blade and Michael Jai White (who looks like he ate Carrot Top for lunch) as Jax. Apparently it was directed by Kevin Tancharoen, who did last year’s remake of Fame.
I’m seriously hoping this is a movie. I would absolutely watch some crazy mix of Saw, Dark Knight Returns and Black Dynamite.

That’s pretty wicked. My dad and I played a lot of MKII back in the day. He’ll be very happy to see this.
