Shit List 2010: Worst commercial featuring a rapper

Fuck lists. Everyone makes the same damn list with the same damn songs and movies and predictable-ass people on it. You can read plenty of lists right now, but there is one thing these lists won’t tell you, which is THE DAMN TRUTH. Many music/art/film critics complain of this weird agenda to promote streamlined taste, so that’s why I’ve conceived my own cantankerous, arbitrary-as-fuck list to promote my own agenda! In the vein of Canadian televisions greatest asshole, Ed The Sock, here’s the latest entry on my year-end ticker: The Shit List.
Earlier this year Drake Mayhem (Dra-hem?) smothered us into feeling like we were in some fantastical Canadian dreamland where it was normal and okay for dudes who shut down the club every week and 12-year-old girls to dictate our rap tastes. THANK GOD WE’VE SNAPPED OUT OF IT (ALL HAIL KANYE). But not before Sprite–purveyors of delicious, lemon-y, carbonated crack–put out this Drizzy-featuring commercial that, really, only serves to highlight how weak we were to give that whole circus a pass. Sprite’s worked with rappers before and there are also tons of shitty (and awesome) rap commercials too, but this one’s hella unoriginal/insipid, plus the graphics are SHITE. (Though I did go buy a Sprite after watching it so I guess it worked in the end).

saw the headline and half-expected to see this winner from mc jin and the chief executive of hong kong (bow tie). technically not a commercial, but its getting its share of laughs over on this side of the world. also, depends on whether or not mc jin is a rapper in your eyes. -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=te-TiL9YVaE
